Face this, big fellas!

A group of Greenpeace brilliant climbers, on Wednesday 8th of July, hung a banner on Mount Rushmore challenging President Obama to show real leadership on global warming. Which is pretty awesome!

The banner was sixty-five feet high by thirty-five feet wide, features an unfinished portrait of Obama with the message, "America honors leaders not politicians: Stop Global Warming."
The banner was hung next to the carved mountain face of Abraham Lincoln. The group of eleven Greenpeace activists were of course arrested and charged with trespassing.
They will due to their braveness and environmental credo spend six months in prison.

America, a real freedom country.
Yep, yep.

Green Bikes for Peace

The Green Bikes for Peace project is a 30-day-long biking tour crossing 5 countries, with youth participating. The aim of the trip is to draw attention to sustainability.

Between June 19 and July 19 2009, 25 youths will cycle through 5 countries and 11 cities from Trieste to Ljubljana, then from Linz to Pécs.

The task of the youths participating at the tour selected by the partner organisations is to explore Europe now without borders, comparing it to the unified Roman Empire two thousand years ago.

The main objective of the project is to actively include youths from the cities concerned and a real dialogue could be established how they see the world and their environment. Therefore during the tour workshops and cultural events are organised (e.g. concerts, expos, statue inauguration ceremonies, etc.) with the cooperation of local NGOs, municipalities and companies.

Iran doesn't like Ahmadinejad Extremism.

Yesterday afternoon I was walking in the streets of Milan, and i just bumped in the most paceful and genuine demonstration in the Duomo Piazza.
Iranian people, guys and girls, were simply singing against the Ahmadinejad government and the rigged elections in their country.
I asked a couple of them what was going on, they told me in the most precise and polite way that seven people got killed the same day in Teheran in a pro Mussavi protest and they felt the need to stand up for Iran rights.
On their placards these simple words: WHERE IS MY VOTE!

White Army Flash Mob

Alternative communication does make a difference.

On the 26th of May, just two days ago some people popped by the studios of Radio 105 in Milan to make a stand for the rights of the people who are experiencing the so called Forgotten Emergencies. The demonstration was organised by Medicins sans Frontiers to capture the sensitivity of the audience of the radio show "Lo Zoo".


The topic of discussion at "Lo Zoo" was incidentally the lack of seriety in everyday news programs;
Just one minute before the White Army crew arrived the radio hosts were discussing the "importance" of Carla Bruni in French politics or the "magnificent" new speedos of Fabrizio Corona. These issues are the main topics of Italy's broadcasted news rather than serious international and social matters like the crisis in Mynmar or the ever existing food and disease emergencies in Africa.
The Flash Mob pointed out that in today's news culture we prefer to hear or watch stories about superficial celebrity lives instead of being confronted with real and precise issues which could be resolved if only we knew about them or cared about them. The hosts of "Lo Zoo" interviewed Paola was one of the representatives of MSF, who explained the reason of the demonstration and the 10 forgotten emergencies which inspired this protest. None of these emergencies were discussed on the TV or the Radio in the last two and a half months, and, thanks to the White Army Flash Mob, were finally spoken about for the public to hear.
